Medical and/or surgical treatment of skin conditions such as warts, molluscum, cysts, and moles.

The severity and appearance of skin problems vary considerably. Most can be removed or improved with a minimal of pain and risk in dermatologist's office.
Dermatologic Surgery is performed using a variety of techniques and procedures to achieve your medical or cosmetic skin goals. The technique used by the doctor will vary depending on what type of procedure is needed and can include: scalpel surgery, laser surgery, chemical surgery, cryosurgery (use of liquid nitrogen), electrosurgery, aspiration surgery, liposuction, injection of filler substances and Mohs micrographic surgery. Each of these techniques are used to either establish a diagnosis for a condition, remove benign (non-cancerous) or malignant growths and skin cancers, or are used to improve the skin's appearance.
If a growth is found on the skin, a biopsy, or removal of part of the growth, may be performed to determine whether or not the growth is benign or malignant. The removed tissue will then be examined under a microscope to determine whether or not the growth is malignant. Following the biopsy, the doctor will then determine a further course of action. Many benign growths such as actinic keratoses, seborrheic keratoses and moles may be removed to avoid becoming cancerous in the future. Other benign growths that are removed through a variety of Dermatologic Surgery techniques included cysts, warts and age spots. Cancerous growths may be removed by Mohs micrographic surgery, which offers a higher success rate for complete cancer eradication than other techniques.

Mohs micrographic surgery involves removing a skin cancer one layer at a time and examining these layers under a microscope immediately after they are removed. This procedure allows for a close examination of each layer of skin to detect cancer cells. It also allows a minimal amount of tissue to be removed while ensuring complete removal of all the cancer cells.
A local anesthetic is injected into the skin before the surgery. Your doctor then begins to remove the skin cancer and a small amount of healthy tissue, one layer of skin at a time. Each tissue layer is prepared and examined under the microscope for cancer cells. Surgery is complete when no more cancer cells are detected.
Mohs micrographic surgery is the best procedure to preserve skin tissue surrounding the cancer while at the same time providing the highest cure rates available. The resulting surgical wound can usually be repaired on the same day by the Mohs Surgeon, using facial-plastic surgery techniques. Mohs surgery enjoys a high degree of patient satisfaction and has become state-of-the-art treatment in skin cancer treatment.

Glycolic acid peels are non-invasive, non-surgical facial treatments that can refine the texture of your skin and improve your appearance by revealing younger-looking skin and a clear, radiant complexion.
Salicylic Acid peels are excellent for acne and oily skin, sun-damaged skin, and aging skin. Salicylic acid helps unclog pores, loosen and lift out blackhead, even out skin tones, and prevent future outbreaks. It is also great for those who desire a mild exfoliant due to more sensitive skin and for those with rosacea.

UVB Phototherapy is a treatment for skin eruptions using artificial ultraviolet light. The initials UVB stand for the type B ultraviolet, the middle energy between the tanning rays (UVA) and the intense germicidal UVC. UVB rays are the part of sunlight that gives one sunburn. Carefully controlled, it is an extremely effective tool for significant skin disease.
UVB has been a standard therapy in hospitals and clinics since it's invention at the Mayo Clinic in the 1920s. UVB is the treatment of choice for people with moderately bad psoriasis (covering 20 percent or more of their body) who have not responded to topical ointments. UVB is also used for severe cases of eczema and itching from any cause.
UVB improves skin diseases because the immune cells of the skin, overactive in many skin diseases, are shut down by UVB. The effect of UVB is similar to sunlight. Excessive exposure causes premature aging of the skin and increases the risk of skin cancer. There are guidelines as to how many times UVB can be done safely.

Grenz Therapy is used to calm down inflammation of the skin and will not cause damage as seen with prolonged use of cortisone creams. It is occasionally very helpful for conditions that fail to fully respond to other treatments. Grenz treatments are not a replacement for other treatments but are added to them to get a more complete result.
Uses of Grenz therapy include treatment of the last lingering spots of mycosis fungoides (T-cell lymphoma), atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, psoriasis, Haily-Haily disease, lichen simplex chronicus, and hand eczema.
